Why there is no cookie banner

Parauling only uses one first-party technical cookie, which is needed for the service you ask for when you log in with your account. This type of cookie is exempt from consent (article 22.2 of the Spanish LSSI-CE and the cookie guide of the Spanish Data Protection Agency, AEPD), and that is why we do not show you any notice. We do explain here what we use.

What we use

In the app (app.parauling.com):

Name Type What for Duration
parauling_sess Technical, first-party Keeping the family account’s session Until you close the browser. If you tick “Keep me logged in on this device” when logging in, or choose it in the adults’ area (so that children can play without entering the password again), it lasts up to 180 days from the last use and is deleted if it is not used during that time

In the Google Play and App Store apps there is no cookie: the session is stored in the app’s private storage, with the same duration as “Keep me logged in” (up to 180 days from the last use).

Besides the cookie, the app stores on the device itself, with browser storage technologies that do not leave the device and that are needed for the game to work as you ask: - the round in progress, so that it can be resumed (localStorage); - the answers that have not yet reached the server, if the game was played offline, until they are sent, for 7 days at most (localStorage); - which new cards have already been opened in each profile’s album, so that they are not shown as new again (localStorage); - whether a profile has already seen the full-size “You remembered them!” screen (localStorage); - whether the tip to add the app to the home screen has been left for later (localStorage); - whether this browser had a session open, so that we can warn that it has been closed (localStorage); - whether “Not now” has been said to the microphone on this device, so that “Say it” does not ask for it (localStorage); - in the store apps, the reminder: whether it is switched on, the account’s language and the last day played, so that the notice does not appear on days when there has already been play (localStorage); - the catalogue’s drawings and audio, so that the game runs fast and the album can be looked at offline (service worker cache; in the store apps, the app’s cache).

On the website (parauling.com): the website does not set any cookie. As the app’s cookie belongs to the parauling.com domain, the browser also sends it to the website if you have a session open, but the website does not read or use it. Nor does the website identify its visitors: it only counts, in aggregate and per day, the visits and the clicks on the buttons (with the browser language, the referring website and the code of the arrival link), without any cookie, identifier or IP address. The app makes the same count when it shows the entrance screen, when an account is created and when someone logs in. The website’s payment page belongs to the payment provider (see the privacy policy) and is governed by its cookie policy; in the store apps, the purchase is made by the store.

What we do NOT use

Neither the app nor the website has advertising, third-party analytics or social media cookies. The aggregate visit count described above uses no cookie and does not identify anyone. If analytics with cookies were ever needed, this policy would be updated and the corresponding consent added; the app will never have it.

How to delete them

The session cookie is essential to use the app with an account: without it you have to log in again every time. It can be deleted by logging out in the adults’ area, or through the browser settings, which also let you clear the local storage.
